Three years ago, I read a book called The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. An incredibly moving and inspiring book, The Alchemist left with me one key lesson: “Maktub.” The word translates to “It is Written.” I consider myself a spiritual person; I believe we have a destiny. While we are unsure of what that final outcome may be, the only way to achieve our fate is by following what we love. This is the core belief upon which I was raised: Follow what you love. It seems simple, but for many it is not. Fear of failure and rejection stop us from doing what will lead us to our ultimate destiny. So each day, do what you love, live without fear, and achieve your fate.
“Tell your heart that the fear of suffering is worse than the suffering itself. And that no heart has ever suffered when it goes in search of its dreams, because every second of the search is a second’s encounter with God and with eternity.”
