I’ve been dying to try my own DIY take on the tie dye trend and finally gave it a go this past weekend! I had a white crewneck sweater from Sportiqe and decided to use that for my first go. When it finished, I cropped it myself and am SO happy with the final result!
If I’m being honest there is A LOT of different rules and tips, so below is what I did for this particular sweater. There a ton of colors and other techniques but for what I wanted this was the easiest one.
WHAT YOU NEED
INSTRUCTIONS
Step 1: Dampen the clothing you are going to tie dye
Step 2: Loosely scrunch and use rubber bands to tie off your sweater. The tighter you scrunch it the more white that will show.
Step 3: Prepare the dye. You’ll want to make sure the water is HOT. Then mix in the dye until it’s the color you want, this is where the towel is helpful. Add in the dish soap and stir.
Step 4: Pour dye contents into the condiment bottle and shake
Step 5: With trash bags underneath your sweater begin pouring dye over the sweater. The more the better, don’t be conservative because you won’t want to go back and re-do spots (I had to do this).
Step 6: Tie trash bag around it and let sit for 8-24 hours – the longer the better!
Step 7: Rinse in cold water until water runs clear and dry!
